Since the drive shaft is very long, it consists of several joints which transmit torque.. Because they are exposed to high rotational forces, all types of joints must be supported. For this purpose, centering sleeves are used, which permanently align the drive shaft with the gear box. In some options, the center sleeves use a special rubber compound without any additional inner sleeve.

Centering devices, isolators and dampers solve vibration-related challenges deriving from the torque fluctuations and natural frequencies of the drive shaft in rear- and all-wheel drive vehicles, where the drive force must be transferred to the rear axle.
