Sprocket Dampers significantly reduce the noise and vibration amplitudes of the chain drive. They prevent the chain-whine noise of chain-driven diesel motors, caused by the chain-link striking the chain wheel teeth. Applied to high pressure common rail diesel pumps, these dampers reduce noise in the critical frequency range by up to 15 db.

This means improved passenger comfort and better engine durability. The inertia ring provides vibration mass. Vulcanized elastomer types provide excellent damping and stiffness characteristics.
