Top mounts connect wheel suspensions with the chassis and, together with coil or air springs, minimize a large part of road surface excitation so that unwanted chassis vibrations do not reach the passengers. Top mounts and spring seats also perform a damping function and are essential to vehicle stability and road holding, and their rubber compound and shape can be precisely modified to the required stiffness characteristics.

By providing a perfect fit to the chassis, the stamped steel housing with its formed fasteners is able to absorb high loads. Top mounts and spring seats are designed to ensure that passengers are protected from sudden shock inputs caused by driving over bumps, obstacles and potholes. They also help to isolate tire noise.
